CURTIS DAVIES’ £10million switch to Aston Villa is still on even though he faces seven months out.
The on-loan centre-back ruptured his Achilles tendon during Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Arsenal — raising questions about his permanent move from West Brom.
But Villa agreed to buy Davies, 22, last summer and only delayed making the payment for 12 months at the Baggies’ request.
Albion boss Tony Mowbray confirmed: “It doesn’t make any difference to the move.
“I am sure we will soon see Curtis laughing and smiling when he gets his head around the situation.
“He is a top player who has shown he is ready for the Premier League and doing well. His character belies his age.”
Davies was included in Fabio Capello’s first England squad. And Villa boss Martin O’Neill said: “It is very serious and a terrible blow for the lad.
“It rebounds on us because he has been doing so great. It’s really cruel but he will be back.”
