John Carew

Aston Villa striker John Carew is eager to stay at Villa beyond the end of his three-and-a-half-year contract.

Carew, who joined Villa from Lyon in last year's January transfer window, is tied to the club until the summer of 2010.

He has adapted well to the Premier League over the last 13 months and has played a key role in Villa's pursuit of a European spot this season.

And Carew is so happy with life that he would be willing to commit to a longer deal.

The Norwegian said: "Would I sign for longer? Absolutely, but that is down to the club and whether they are still happy with me. It has been a good season for me.

"I really love being here. The fans have been fantastic. It has been a great move for me.

"You will have periods when your form goes up and down but generally I think my form has been pretty good."
