Derby boss Paul Jewell admits on-loan midfielder Hossam Ghaly would prefer to remain
in the top flight next season.
The Egyptian, who has been on loan from Tottenham since January, has impressed for
the relegated Rams in recent weeks.
"I have spoken to Hossam Ghaly and quite understandably Hossam wants to stay in
the Premier League," Jewell said. "But if there aren't any Premier League clubs
who take him then he is very happy to come to Derby."
Aston Villa striker John Carew is battling to be fit for Saturday's
Barclays Premier League clash at already relegated Derby.
The Norway international suffered a recurrence of a groin injury during the
4-0 win over
Bolton last weekend and had to be substituted in the second half.
Midfielder Craig Gardner is still ruled out with the thigh injury sustained on England
Under-21 duty a fortnight ago.
